Wheelchair Fashion: OOTD and FOTD

Hello Darlings...
The weekend has come upon us and it's also now December.

Ohh wee, I haven't done any Christmas shopping and I just keep telling myself I have 24 more days. Lol..
Anyhoo... As y'all know by now, I like to do some "Fashion Posts" of outfits I wear, wheelchair using and all...

Today's OOTD post is not really Today's Outfit.. Lol, I wore this last weekend to Lakewood Church in Houston since I was in Houston for a visit.
I was happy to be at Lakewood!!!!

Anyhoo... Here's we go.
First is my FOTD...

I went for a soft makeup look with my outfit. My hair, dress and necklace were already the center of attention, so I wanted a soft look for my face... with the exception of the black eyeshadow I used on the corner of my eyes..

My outfit was this very Lovely dress I fell in love with the instant I set my eyes on it. A peplum dress.

As I previously explained on the blog, I don't wear dresses this short without a panty hose or tights.
Besides, the weather was a bit chilly so this totally worked. Boots and a black belt to complete my look.

Here's a more detailed picture of my amazing necklace! Instant LOVE!! Goes perfect with this dress.

Dress/Necklace - Forever 21
Belt - Ross
Boots - Payless (I folded it, it's naturally not that short).
Eye Make up - E.L.F
Lips - Mixture of lip colors in my E.L.F pallete

I'm still a newbie to these "fashion posts", so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.

I know most of you cannot relate to why I feel the need to share my fashion despite being on a wheelchair, BUT the truth is, one of the scariest things I was told while in rehab was that I would have to change how I dress because the wheelchair makes things hard on people

I nearly believed those lies, BUT I'm glad I am proof that ANYONE can dress up however they choose to IF they're determined.
I don't wear things that hurt me, or stop circulation in my body, and I just hope I can inspire someone out there. Your sense of style doesn't have to varnish because you're on a wheelchair.

Well, That's it for now darlings.
Till Later, God Bless.

    1. Honey, that's pretty much what they said.
I understand where they were coming from but I feel there was a better way to put it.

Things ARE different and I have to do things a whole lot more in a "skillful" manner, but All I heard then was about how "impossible" things I used to do would be.

    1. It is kind of terrible but I guess they were trying to make me and everyone else realize that 'things will be different'.

True, things are different but I've found a way to make it all work. I praise God for his mercies.

  11. You look so beautiful! I love the dress and makeup, and I especially love the necklace! I have something called POTS/Dysautonomia that makes it hard to walk or even sit up without passing out; I'm fortunate to have a drug that makes it so I can walk but it's being taken off the market soon :( I have lots of friends with POTS who are wheelchair bound and it is awesome to see someone else wheelchair bound who is so positive about it and so darn fashionable, too!

    1. I have heard about POTS.
It can be tough to live with it, but I'm glad you're fortunate to have a drug that makes it so you can walk.
I am sad it's being taken off the market soon.

Why oh why is that? Will there be a generic version you can still buy? I don't even know where to begin, but I wish something will be available for you to use.
Thank you so much for your compliments and I have God to thank for helping me be positive despite what I have to deal with. I couldn't have done anything without him.

Thank you once again, and you'll be in my prayers.

  15. You know I've never commented here but just wanted to tell you that you're amazing!!! One of my good friends had become wheelchair bound about a year and a half ago and it totally changed him.. He went from this full of life person to a needy whiny dude. It so good to see that you are happy despite your illness (at least you come off this way!!). I'm so glad you didn't believe those lies in rehab!!! You are beautiful, both on the outside and the inside!!! You truly are my inspiration :)))

    1. I really appreciate your comment Gosia.

Thank you so very much, and I absolutely understand how your friend must feel.
Honestly, I too felt like I had to whine at a point right after the car accident. I felt like Everyone had to cater to me because I couldn't do anything on my own.

But with God, my family and the WILL to get back to doing things on my own, I realized I didn't have to hold on to the whining. It look a lot of determination and Once AGAIN, GOD! But Yes, I eventually CHOSE to be happy.

As I always tell people, Happiness is a choice, and you have to choose to be happy despite your situation. If you wait to be happy when everything becomes better, you might live a very bitter life.

I am not perfect, I have days when I'm just BLAHhhhhh, but for the most part, when I remember how lucky I am to be alive, I still choose happiness over defeat, sadness, depression, and a negative spirit.

As for your friend, he'll also need you (his friends and family) to show him that you're there for him. he might just need to hear that you guys will still love him despite the change he's going through. Sometimes, Whining is a cry for help - a cry to keep the people close to you "closer". What's sad is that the whiners don't realize that whining only pushes people away.

I'm praying for your friend and I hope he gets to a place of peace and happiness.

Thank you so very much once again for your kind words. I hope I can continue to inspire in any way I am able. :-)

  17. Did your chair come with the red accents, or did you DIY them? I love it! And it looks very festive :) (Adorable dress, too!)

    1. Hey Hey Hey!!! You're my namesake!!! :-D Hi Elizabeth!

      Lol...

Anyhoo, THE Chair came with red accents. Oh I wish I thought to DIY them into something else. They actually asked me at the rehab what color I wanted the accents to be, and at that point, RED was my absolute favorite color, so I said RED! Lol...

Thank you so much for your compliment.

P.S: I refer to that chair as "THE Chair", because I don't believe it's "Mine".I am holding on to the believe that I'll walk again. God is able... Hope you feel me. :-)
